A needy couple sells their son to their wealthy relatives for the sake of a better future for him and leave the city but the past comes back to haunt everybody when the child grows up. The movie also carries some explicit messages for the people in West Pakistan to become more aware of the culture of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), and hence carries a historic value for the study of this aspect of the national life in the late 1960s.
